At a new meeting of the Temporary Investigation Commission of the Verkhovna Rada on the Midas case, former Minister of Justice Herman Halushchenko stated that he is only a witness in the “Mindich tapes” case and was questioned once.
The tapes feature officials and individuals close to the Bankova. Halushchenko himself is also mentioned on these tapes.
Halushchenko confirmed that he has known Mindich since 2017-2018 because “their children went to the same school.” Their last meeting was in the summer, in an apartment on Hrushevsky Street, where, according to the former minister, they talked “about something, including the weather.” He insists that he had no joint business with Mindich. Instead, he had a “complex relationship” with Shurma and a “working relationship” with Yermak.
Meanwhile, former Energy Minister Svitlana Grynychuk said that no one had approached her about resigning. No procedural actions were taken against her.
Galushchenko headed the Ministry of Energy, which is consistently included in the list of the most problematic in terms of corruption risks. It was during his tenure that the case of Oleksandr Heylo, Galushchenko’s deputy, who demanded a bribe of half a million hryvnias, took place.
