Under the quota of Prosecutor General Kravchenko, Oleksiy Shevchuk, a figure in investigations and lawyer for figures in NABU cases, will join the SAP Competition Commission.
Here are some facts about Shevchuk:
- He defended the organizers of the murder of Kateryna Handziuk, Illia Kiva, and a number of figures in NABU cases.
- He is involved in an investigation into the smuggling of men abroad through the “Shlyakh” system, through which about 200 men left and did not return.
- He was stripped of his license for violating attorney ethics. His license was suspended this year for an offensive post about veteran Masy Nayem.
- The Ethics Council in the competition for the High Council of Justice recognized him as “not meeting the criteria of professional ethics and integrity.”
According to Prosecutor General Kravchenko, the subject of investigations, who was stripped of his license and has open disciplinary cases, has “an impeccable business reputation and moral qualities” — as required by law.
Will Shevchuk, who defended the NABU suspects and supported the dictatorial laws of January 16, be electing deputies to the head of the SAP?
Exactly six months have passed since the attempt to eliminate the independence of NABU and SAPO, and now Prosecutor General Kravchenko, appointing members of the commission with tarnished reputations, is once again doing everything possible to prevent SAPO from being independent and is calling into question the integrity of the SAPO Competition Commission.
We demand that the Prosecutor General revoke the decision and bring the composition of the commission into line with the law.
This is yet another case that confirms that Kravchenko must step down from the post of Prosecutor General.
