“The fight against corruption is key,” the European Commission commented on the searches at Yermak’s office

Against the backdrop of searches at the office of Presidential Administration Head Andriy Yermak, the European Commission spoke out in support of anti-corruption institutions.

“We have seen the news about today’s searches conducted by NABU and SAPO. Our position is well known: any investigations show that anti-corruption agencies are working.

<…> The fight against corruption was a central element of our enlargement package and is key to the country’s accession to the European Union,” a European Commission spokesperson told Radio Liberty.

Earlier, the media reported that NABU was preparing charges against Andriy Yermak in connection with the construction of the Dynasty estate complex.

According to NABU, the searches at Yermak’s residence are being conducted as part of Operation Midas, which involves the president’s friend Mindich, Deputy Prime Minister Chernyshov, and other officials.

In addition to protecting anti-corruption infrastructure, the EU regularly advocates for reforming the law enforcement system, whose inaction has created opportunities for large-scale corruption.
