The new deputy head of SAPO will be selected by a commission, half of whose members will be appointed by Prosecutor General Kravchenko at the recommendation of the Council of Prosecutors.
The procedure for creating the commission has already been initiated by the Council of Prosecutors, which is controlled by the Office of the Prosecutor General.
This means that Kravchenko will influence the work of the competition commission and the selection of the deputy head of the SAPO.
In 2020, Kravchenko tried to take the position of SAPO prosecutor, but failed to pass the integrity test. Now he will influence the selection and appointment of his deputy head of the SAP.
The European Commission has recommended that Ukraine introduce an independent competition for the position of Prosecutor General, which will allow the law enforcement system to be rebooted and cleansed of the influence of the OP and former OP head Yermak, who is close to Kravchenko.
