The second stage of the competition for the position of head of the State Customs Service is underway. After preliminary testing, 16 candidates remain in the competition for the position of customs chief, 12 of whom MEZHA has questions about their integrity.

The second test is devoted to knowledge of legislation. Earlier, the commission approved a list of 960 questions. More details about this stage can be found on the customs service’s website here.

Four in the running: article by the head of MEZHA

Earlier, the head of MEZHA, Martina Boguslavets, wrote in her article about the candidates we have questions about. Four of them are to take this test:

  • Vladislav Suvorov, Deputy Head of the State Customs Service, who uses property registered in the names of relatives;
  • Mykhailo Miroshnychenko, who during his interview for the position of head of the National Agency for Corruption Prevention stated that he was “shocked” by the amount of property and businesses owned by his 76-year-old mother-in-law;
  • Ivan Kerezvas, acting head of the Lviv Customs Office, known for his luxury car fleet; a figure in Mikhail Tkach’s investigation;
  • Daniil Menshikov, former head of the Cherkasy and Lviv customs offices, who did not declare houses worth UAH 13 million.

The next head must meet the criteria of integrity and professionalism and be ready to correct the status of customs as “one of the most corrupt” agencies in the country.

The test results must be published within three days. MEZHA will continue to monitor the progress of the competition.
