High Anti-Corruption Court seizes Tymoshenko’s assets

The High Anti-Corruption Court has ruled to seize the money, cars, and real estate confiscated from Yulia Tymoshenko. Among other things, tens of thousands of dollars in cash were found in her office.

“Today is John Orwell’s birthday. He has a work called Animal Farm. Well, this is Animal Farm,” Tymoshenko said in court on January 21, the day of writer George Orwell’s death.

What exactly was seized:

  • Toyota (2018)
  • GAZ-14 (1983)
  • Audi A8 (2016)
  • Two garages in Dnipro
  • $40,000 in cash, seized from her office.
  • $6,300 seized from the suspect’s clutch bag (Tymoshenko noted that this was a “small amount of money”)

The bag contained bundles of $10,000 bills — according to the investigation, this was the amount she offered to MPs for their votes.

The defense’s position: the proceedings are allegedly aimed at auditing the work of a political party and clarifying its parliamentary plans. Tymoshenko herself noted that on the eve of the political elections, they “want to get rid of her” and announced her intention to file a statement about a “group crime by NABU detectives.”

Tymoshenko stated that the criminal proceedings were registered on her birthday, November 27, and that she received a congratulatory phone call informing her of the registration. In fact, this means that Tymoshenko knew that work was being done on her case.
