An apartment for his mother-in-law, privatization of state property for himself

Ivan Kerezvas is the current acting head of the Lviv Customs Office and one of 38 candidates for the position of head of the State Customs Service.

In 2016, journalists reported that Kerezvas, then an employee of the Security Service of Ukraine, was driving a BMW X5 worth $70,000–100,000, registered in his father’s name. The official income of a law enforcement officer could not cover such expenses, even theoretically.

In 2020–2025, Kerezvas’s inner circle acquired assets worth at least $450,000:

  • A three-room apartment in the Leiptsyzky residential complex (Pechersk) worth $200,000, registered in his mother-in-law’s name. However, messages in the residential complex’s chat room from the official’s wife indicate that it was Kerezvas’ family who lived in the apartment.
  • A one-bedroom apartment in the Krister Grad residential complex — $77,000, also registered to his mother-in-law.

In 2022, Kerezvas privatized a one-room apartment in Kyiv in the Ozerny residential complex with a market value of over $80,000, despite the existence of an apartment where the family actually lived, registered in the name of his mother-in-law.

A classic scheme: expensive assets are registered to relatives, but actually used by the official.

MEZHA continues to analyze each candidate for the position of head of the State Customs Service and sends the results of its monitoring to the competition commission.
